About the Conference MendelNet 2016
Within the past twenty years MendelNet has become a staple on the academic conference circuit. With its widespread acceptance and interdisciplinary outreach, it continues to attract the young and bright well beyond the realm of agronomy.
It is not, then, a coincidence this event takes a place in Brno, the Czech Republic’s second largest urban area and a settlement of the moment. It is the city, where Milan Kundera was born, Leoš Janáček premiered most of his operas, Kurt Gödel set for the journey that re-shaped the ways we think, and Mies van der Rohe and Bohuslav Fuchs contributed to the architectural face of modernism. And, of course, it is the place where Gregor Johann Mendel pioneered the laws of genetics. Today, Brno is especially well renowned – among other things – for its research and innovation culture, vibrant coffee scene, and increasingly pleasant standard of life.
History is more than the path leading from the past and same can be said both about Faculty of AgriSciences and the MendelNet itself. Two decades of effort are an obligation to those who worked hard – both as organizers and participants – to foster the scientific exchange and help develop our knowledge in various branches of inquiry. This effort and growing importance of the event is reflected in continuous presence of the proceedings in Conference Proceedings Citation Index (Thomson Reuters).
The MendelNet prouds itself to be traditionally perceived as a multi-disciplinary and open forum with an ability to attract many a representative from the industry. We are grateful to all supporters who regularly help us to gap the bridge between basic and applied research.
In its 23th anniversary, while fully matured, this international conference is far from resting on its laurels. It looks into the future with a zest, promoting the vision of a society, in which the science is endowed with enormous responsibility, both to itself and the mankind.
We would like to invite you to be a part of that vision
